Garreth is an amazing young man who supports his younger brothers in everything they do – helping them with their homework and giving them the practical skills they need to talk about how they are feeling.
Garreth and his three young brothers are being brought up by their older sister. Garreth is a ‘Youth Champion’ who is extremely supportive of the needs and circumstances of other children and young people in kinship care. He supports staff and volunteers deliver programmes and activities to other children and young people who come through our Kinship Care Support Service for support. He welcomes children to the Centre and makes them feel at home, and shares with them his own personal experience of kinship care.
Garreth loves football and boxing and is doing well at school. Despite having to overcome a significant level of adversity at a very early stage of his life, Garreth gives hope and inspires everyone he meets.
Garreth was one of 20 young people in the world to receive a 2017 Diana Legacy Award.
