Alice is a Senior Lecturer in Law with Edge Hill University, Lancashire. She has worked as a lecturer since 1993 (NWRC, Ulster University) and has held a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy since 2007. She has published widely on legal issues relating to adoption, identity rights, kinship care, child protection and human rights law. Prior to this Alice practiced as a solicitor in Northern Ireland for 5 years specialising in family law. As a closed records adoptee from Quebec (who spent a year of her life in foster care) she is an ardent believer in the need for kinship care.
Alice holds an LLB, LLM and PhD in Law and has served as a Board member/Trustee for a number of charitable organisations in Northern Ireland and in England since 2010. She has four grown-up children.
