Kinship Care NI have published a 4 page Impact Report on their work and success in meeting the needs of kinship carers and the children they care for in Northern Ireland.
The organisation has achieved considerable success in helping and supporting some of the most disadvantaged children and families – from providing specialist advice and information to delivering personal development programmes and activities to help build the confidence, self esteem and resilience of kinship carers and the children they look after.
Their Caring for Kin Projects in Antrim and Magherafelt and their Kinship Care Support Service in Derry/Londonderry secured £433,877.56 in social security benefit and other financial support for kinship carers – lifting them and the children they care for out of poverty. They provided a range of services to 340 children and young people, distributed small grants to 42 kinship carers and toys to 121 children as part of their Christmas Toy Appeal.
